New Legislation - Pre-treatment ......Under the Landfill Regulations introduced in 2002 a new requirement will be imposed on all waste disposed of in landfill from 30th October 2007.Any business that produces or treats waste before it goes to landfill may be affected.

In the recent budget, the Chancellor announced that the landfill tax escalator, currently £3/tonne, would increase to £8/tonne each year from April 2008.
This will mean that landfill tax will rise to £32/tonne next year from it’s current £24/tonne and will rise to £48/tonne in 2010. Recycling your waste will therefore not only meet the pre-treatment requirement, it will also help to minimise the impact of landfill tax.
